We’re counting on a future with less plastic waste

Plastic – it gets everywhere. From the street outside your house to the depths of the Pacific Ocean, this one-time wonder material has permeated our planet and left us pondering one big question: what do we do with all the waste?

If you want to play an active role in solving the plastic problem and know how much waste you produce - then it’s time to work it out with The Big Plastic Count.

This nationwide event takes place between Monday, 16 May and Sunday, 22 May.

All you have to do is count all the plastic you throw away for one week and then register the results online.

You’ll get a breakdown of exactly where all your plastic waste ends up.

The event aims to raise awareness about the planet’s plastic crisis and encourage everyone who produces and uses plastic to take action to cut down on waste.

Hounslow Council and its partners are committed to cutting back on the waste we all produce by giving residents more opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle.

You can recycle your plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays in your red recycling box.

Schools, community groups, businesses, families and individuals are all invited to sign up and get involved in The Big Plastic Count here
