Did you know that there are more than 120,000 trees in Hounslow?

They come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, 383 different species line the roads, parks and boulevards of the borough - everything from Maple and Plane to beautiful flowering Apples, Pears and Cherries.

And with Hounslow Council’s commitment to plant a new one for every child born in the borough each year, the canopy is growing all the time.

They don’t just look beautiful - their carbon-capturing properties mean that trees are valuable assets in our climate change challenge. 

Yes, we’ve got plenty of reasons to be thankful for our borough’s trees and now you can show that you care by adopting one. 

Adopt a new tree

It’s a simple process that costs nothing. In most cases, it means going out and giving a newly-planted tree some water during dry spells or keeping its roots free of litter. 

Trees that are under three-years-old need all the help they can get. These small actions could help their survival. 

The green-fingered team at Hounslow Greentalk are leading the campaign to help residents take on a tree.

The website has an interactive map that shows the trees that are up for adoption in the borough. All you have to do is create a profile on the site, search the map and then click ‘adopt this tree’.

You’ll get an email message confirming your commitment to our borough’s green future. 

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Parking, Parks and Leisure, Councillor Salman Shaheen, said: “Adopting a tree is a great free way to get involved in your local environment. The council and its partners continue to care for all the trees in the borough but any extra help is appreciated.”

“Trees are crucial in our action on climate change, which is why we are planting as many as we can. If we look after our trees, they will look after us.”
